Religion

As a strict atheist, I disregard religion on all grounds.

I've never seen any proof that God or any other deity exists.

Now, I have religious friends and family, all of who; I respect and get along with perfectly.

However, when it comes to religion, and I ask them 'where's the proof?', they say 'read the Bible' 'read the Koran' etc.

As a child, I was obsessed with God, I read several bibles, tried praying, I did everything to find a shred of evidence that there's some form of super power.

I found absolutely nothing.

I want to believe in a god more than anyone on the planet, if there was credential proof that he exists then I would be the most religious person going.

This is what angers me beyond anything, I don't believe in God, therefore I have no obligation to any cause. I have no holy book that tells me how to live my life.

When I first heard of Al Qaeda, ISIS, etc carrying out terror attacks in the name of Allah, I was told 'that's not true Islam', which I believed.

When I first heard of the Westboro Baptist Church carrying out homophobic attacks, I was told 'that's not true Christianity', which I believed.

Now, in light of recent events, I no longer believe this excuse of 'that's not true religion'. What they mean is 'that's not MY version of Islam' 'that's not MY version of Christianity'.

People say terror has no religion, then who are the ISLAMIC STATE?

Now, I'm not saying all religion is bad, I'm just saying that terror is someone else's version of religion.

Think of religion like a gun, I could use the gun as a back scratcher, under my way of doing things, it's not going to hurt anyone. Someone, then may take that gun and use it to shoot another. Just because someone is using it differently doesn't mean that it's not a gun.

Just because someone interprets a religion differently to you, doesn't mean it's not that religion, it's still cut from the same cloth.

If there was no religion in the first place there'd be nothing to misinterpret (no terror attacks).

Money

"Money can't buy happiness"- Unknown

Without a doubt a quote I despise above all others, second only to 'love thy neighbour'.
Im pretty sure if I gave a person £1 million they could go out and buy something that would bring them some form of joy.
I do get what the quote is trying to imply but it conveys a totally different meaning, the point is you shouldn't be reliant upon money to be happy, which is correct I guess.

I've had a very materialistic up bringing, I've always had the latest, smartphone and mac, wore designer clothes, had hundreds of pounds worth of spending money etc but never once have I been upset if I was told no, simply because I didn't care if I had them or not. This caused people at school and from other places to think I'm spoilt and always get what I want, which I guess is also correct BUT.....I worked for it, whenever I did well in school or did something that my parents approved of they rewarded me for my efforts.

This made me think of the bigger picture! How many people aren't unleashing their full potential because of this nonsense? How many could-have-been millionaires, even billionaires ended up on benefits because they were always told to not bother earning?

If you want a nice car, then you work for it, if you want a big 6 bedroom house then you get into a job that will pay the mortgage for it! Don't let others who have failed or can't be bothered to do so, hold you back! Get up, get earning, get what you want!

Don't judge people with expensive stuff and assume they're a spoilt, middle class snob, you don't know how hard they've worked to get that item! Just because you don't have a job or enjoy saving, don't critique other on how they spend their hard earned dollars.

Im tired of this bull sh*t, left wing, anti-wealth argument that we should enjoy being poor and appreciate 'family' and 'the smaller things in life'. ARGH!! I do appreciate my bloody family and whatever 'the smaller things in life' are but; why does the fact I have nice things make people think I'm inconsiderate??

Im sick of these hippy-wannabe, weed smoking, bandana wearing, 'challenge the establishment' teens that make up our generation, last year they were spray painting 'fuck the feds' on a pensioners garden wall. I bet given the chance of a £10 an hour job, they'd snatch your hand off and not look back. So why the sudden change of heart from: 'Fuck the feds' to 'Free Palestine'.

I come from a very left wing school, where we're taught to 'not strive for money' and the exact philosophy as I've just mentioned of 'aim to be happy'. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Why are we getting an education? To get into university. Why do we need to get into University? To get a degree. Why do we need a degree? To get a job. Why do we need a job? TO EARN MONEY!

I've also been told to travel for a year and not to jump straight into a career. What do I need to travel? Oh yes, MONEY! Yet the most ironic of all, I want to get a job straight away and start earning which I have been told not to do. Instead, I was told to got university, to further my education, what do I need a lot of to go to uni? That wonderful 5 letter word beginning with M.
